The Effects of Adolescent Family Strengths and Perceptions of Parenthood on Marriage Consciousness

|
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of adolescent family strengths and perceptions of Parenthood on Marriage consciousness and to explore how perceptions of Parenthood affects family strengths and marriage consciousness. The subjects of this study were 614 adolescents who lived in Daejeon who agreed with this study. The analysis was performed using multiple regression analysis and three-step method of Baron and Kenny (1986). The main results of the study are as follows. First, adolescent family strengths had a positive effect on marriage consciousness. Second, adolescent perceptions of Parenthood has a positive effect on marriage consciousness. Third, there was no mediating effect on adolescent perceptions of Parenthood between family strengths and marriage consciousness. In other words, in the relationship between family strengths and marriage consciousness, the recognition of parenthood did not show a causal relationship. Based on the above results, we discussed the practical and policy interventions to improve the adolescent marriage consciousness.
